Ad-Legal - Advertising Approval Manager
Ad-Legal, Tankstream’s advertising content approval application is a powerful suite of tools designed to streamline the legal review process of advertising ‘copy’, reducing your organisation’s risk of breaching Competition and Consumer Laws.
First, Ad-Legal provides a checklist of questions which must be answered correctly by the ‘ads’ author before the copy can be submitted for legal approval. At any time your company lawyers may log onto the system to see a list of submissions that await review. The reviewing lawyer checks the author’s submission report and advertisement’s copy. Approval or feedback for rejected advertisements will be recorded in the system and appropriate notifications sent automatically to all parties.
Ad-Legal Snapshot
Ad-Legal serves to:
- Ensure that content owner/author (marketer, advertising agency, copy writer and technical writer) are aware of all the key content issues that need to be addressed
- Increase the owner/author responsibility for the advertisements they create or sponsor
- Reduce the number of cycles involved in the release process
- Ensure all parties have access to the correct/current version of the advertisement
The system keeps a complete audit trail of submitted work, checklist answers, lawyer review results and final decisions.
Four steps
Resources
‘Resources’ provides a simple method for the legal department to organise and present electronic legal resources to users involved in preparing advertisements. These may include pricing guidelines, promotions manuals and application forms, clause libraries and sample advertisements.
Submit
In this module the author is required to work through Ad-Legal’s ‘smart checklist’, a self review process based on a legal analysis of answers to various questions relevant to the advertisement. The author is required to confirm that the ad meets the set requirements before the ad copy can be submitted.
This simple process reduces the workload of your legal team by ensuring that compliance with Competition and Consumer Laws has already been considered by the author and that the legal teams ‘set criteria’ have been addressed.
Clearance
Lawyers log onto the system to see a list of submissions which await review. After review of the submission approval can be granted or rejected. If the ‘copy’ is rejected the lawyer can attach comments to the submission or contact the author from within the system. Notifications and reminders are generated automatically by the system speeding up the clearance process.
Audit
Tankstream’s Ad-Legal Approval Manager system is consistent with the structural, operational and maintenance elements of Australian Standard 3806 compliant system.
Setup
Ad-Legal is a web-based application and requires no end user software. Some setup customisation is required for each client, e.g. client branding, loading of resources, ‘smart checklist’ setup and administrator and user access etc. After this the system is self-managed.
